I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. Today is July 3rd, people. We are officially halfway through 2020.
At this halfway point, it’s important to take inventory of where you’re at. You probably had plans derailed during this time. Maybe your big vacation was canceled, your promotion was put on hold, or your wedding was called off. I think we can all agree that 2020 has been the year we wanted it to be.
You can do one of two things during this halfway point. You can simply react to the chaos and let your goals fall by the wayside, or you can center your thoughts on a positive present and a hopeful future. What’s most important is how you rebound when your plans get off track. Don’t fall into the trap of despair.
For this 5-Minute Friday, I want to encourage you to take the time to reflect. I want you to reflect on what worked, what didn’t work, and how you can make positive changes in yourself to better yourself in this remaining half of 2020.
I want to bring up some wisdom from some of the amazing people I’ve interviewed over the past years.
Mel Robbins said, “The time is now. Stop hitting the snooze button on your life.” Sometimes we make excuses for ourselves when it comes to taking action. Maybe we say we’re too busy, or it’s just not the right timing. But as Mel said, the time is NOW. COVID-19 has derailed a lot of plans, but it doesn’t have to derail your life moving forward.
I also had the pleasure of interviewing Marisa Peer who talked about the power of positive thinking and treating yourself with compassion. When you take the time to reflect, don’t forget to love yourself and give yourself grace. Maybe you’ve made some mistakes during this first half of the year. Don’t hate on yourself. Everybody makes mistakes. Every disruption, every slip-up, is an opportunity for growth.
What you do in this moment is crucial to your future. Join me on Episode 975 to learn how to keep a growth mindset when your life is on hold.
