The 3 Steps to Finding Opportunity

Opportunity is everywhere!

Milton Berle said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” Whether you’re trying to advance your career, start a new side hustle, or grow your existing business, there are always ways to do so.

Opportunity can be a new person you meet. It can be a new problem to solve or the solution to something you’ve been struggling with. It can be a simpler way to do things or a new mindset for looking at the world.

But it can be hard to spot opportunities — even the ones right under our noses. So here are three things you can do to attract more opportunities into your life…

“An opportunity can be in a new person that you meet, it can be a problem to solve, or the solution to something you’ve been struggling with for a long time.” @lewishowes

#1: Embrace What You’ve Dismissed

Is there something you’ve always brushed aside, never bothering to try? The ideas, strategies, and people you’ve dismissed might be your next big opportunity. Give them a chance!

For example, maybe you’re a coach looking for new clients, and you think that creating Facebook ads is a waste of time and money. Instead of being dismissive, delve into the world of Facebook ads. Read, talk to people, and even launch a few test ads. It could be a great opportunity to grow your business!

#2: Change Up the Scenery

I’m not saying you have to get up and move halfway across the world, but if you’re in the same environment every day of every week, the opportunities around you will eventually dry up. Immerse yourself in new places with new people, and you’ll start to see what’s possible!

#3: Question Things More Often

If you accept everything at face value, you’ll struggle to come up with opportunities for change. Instead, ask questions like, “Is what I’m doing best for myself and others?” or, “How can I do the things I do faster, smarter, and in a more mutually beneficial way?” Question everything, and opportunities for improvement will appear.

Follow these steps, and you’ll start to see all the opportunities around you!

And don’t forget to go all-in on your opportunities once you’ve found them. You’ve got to put in the world and execute on your opportunities before you can reap any benefit. Still, spotting opportunities is the first step, and now you’ve got the tools to do it!

Ann Landers said, “Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don’t recognize them.” Don’t be afraid to work hard for your opportunities! You’ll be amazed at the joy, abundance, and fulfillment that will come to you.
