The Power of Why

START WITH YOUR WHY.

You have to believe in your vision.

We all get caught up in limiting beliefs. The sooner you understand what holds you back and why, the sooner you can achieve flow.

Find your purpose and chase it.

Once you zero in on what it is you’re trying to accomplish, it will be easier to keep your ego from getting in the way.

It all comes back to your “why.”

For this 5-Minute Friday, I revisited a conversation I had with Lisa Messenger where she shared how she connects to her purpose in order to stay focused on the bigger picture.

Lisa is an international speaker, best-selling author, and an authority on disruption in both the corporate sector and the start-up scene. She is the vibrant, game-changing founder and CEO of Collective Hub.

Lisa says that once you know what you’re working towards, you need to have insatiable self-belief that you will receive everything you need.

Learn how to hustle hard for the right reasons in Episode 804.

Lewis: This is 5-Minute Friday!!

I have a very special guest today her name is Lisa Messenger and I found out about Lisa on Instagram probably like 6 or 7 months ago, maybe even a year ago because I was doing research for a magazine that I was doing and I saw how incredibly talented she was and how beautiful her design was for a magazine that she has called ‘the collective.’ I’m so impressed with what she’s created she’s gonna tell you all the numbers she’s created. How she’s got distribution throughout these airports and bookstore and she’s got global distribution how she’s crushing it both print magazine and digital magazine. And how she built a business as an entrepreneur in Australia to bring it to the big dogs here in the U.S. Her whole story and journey of building this from scratch with just an idea and a dream having 0 clue of what she was doing. I think you guys are gonna get really inspired by this.

Lisa: I think to me it’s all about really feeling deeply into what your purpose is or what your why is. I think that’s the best place to start because you know once you understand that everything is some serendipity and synchronously it all starts to kind of fall into place. And then the other thing is you know you’ve got to have an insatiable self-belief, because if you don’t believe in yourself no one else will.

Lewis: Yes.

Lisa: Because as you, I love that you’re a hustler as well because I’m a serious hustler. You’ve got to be out there you know, probably it’s so weird for anyone who knows me I’m an extroverted, I’m actually quite introverted like I love being home in my couch or going for a run or you know being in the outdoors and kind of just being with a close group of friends. And yet now my life is being on this circuit 3 or 4 times a week and like being out there and being very vocal about everything and kind of putting my life on a platter and that is not my natural stay.

Lewis: Yeah.

Lisa: But I’ve learned that I’m not gonna make a difference or do anything great in this world by not putting myself out there and so I do that.

The other thing is you know to [?] fast. As you were talking about before I think people get so caught up in limiting belief and I mean I think I’ve done years of therapy and reading and all sorts of things. So, I can talk about it, but you know we all have these limiting beliefs that you know handed from generation to generation or things that happened in our childhood or whatever. I think the sooner that people get comfortable and have a true understanding of what holds them back and why and all of that kind of thing then all that sort of stuff start to fall away and life becomes much more seamless and in flow. So, I think you know it’s all about once you realize what your purpose is or what you want to do, don’t worry so much about the money like actually go out and presell and you know there’s plenty of money and there’s so much abundance out there and start to tell people about your vision, and people will start to come to you and you know provide you with money and think about what’s your currency and what tangible assets have you got, is it your intellectual property? Or whatever it happens to be, I mean there are things that you can sell before you actually have to make them. I mean I fail at least 20 times a day now and I love it because what I mean by that just small quick failures and it’s because of networks, I’ve got some great contacts of building that up over many years and I can [?] someone in a marketing director and be corporate and I can say “This idea might be for a venture or might be for all sorts of other things.” And they can quickly come back to me and say “That’s not gonna work.” But I am gonna presell the idea before I actually make it essential.

Lewis: Sure

Lisa: I think kind of, some of the tips and the one question I ask myself every single day without fail is why? Why am I doing this? Because I think as well once you start to have a level of success and you know if my life were [?], but I mean I would say I’m on chapter 1 page 1 paragraph 1 and really have so much more to do. And so there’s a fine line all the time of not letting your ego get in the way in the big picture.

Lewis: Yes.

Lisa: Extraordinary things are happening and amazing opportunities are opening up for me every single day I go ‘why am I doing this? And the reason I’m doing this is to help other people and empower them.’ So that’s what I’m doing and does everything enjoying full align into that and do the people that I’m doing deals with share similar values and beliefs and if so let’s move forward.
