Her uber popular hit book The Happiness Project took over the world by storm. But so have her other books, as well as her podcast.
She is an extremely successful blogger, author, podcast host, and speaker.
But one of the things I love most about Gretchen Rubin is her dedication to helping people.
If you listened to Episode 187 a couple years ago, you remember our first podcast interview where she explained how habits work.
Since then, she has done extensive research to figure out why we live up to our goals (or not) — and it turns out it’s not the same for everyone.
Gretchen has uncovered what she calls “The Four Tendencies.” It’s a framework to understand how individuals respond to expectations — both from other people and from themselves.
What is so fascinating about this personality study is that it explains why we get some things done and not others AND why we respond differently to expectations that come from outside us versus from inside us.
We talked about this (no surprise, I fit into the Rebel tendency) in depth, as well as how Gretchen’s career has evolved from just writing into podcasting, speaking, and researching.
I love talking to people who are equally obsessed with understanding what makes people great, and this conversation is exactly that in Episode 541.
