CONSISTENCY IS KEY.

So many of us diet.

But we don’t maintain it.

We start strong and then fall off.

The reason? We don’t have a strong “why.”

Wanting a six-pack isn’t enough.

It has to be deeper than that.

For this 5-Minute Friday, I revisited a conversation I had with Drew Canole where he shared how to find your ideal diet and stay consistent.

Drew Canole is a Nutrition Specialist, Transformation Specialist and national spokesperson for the benefits of juicing vegetables for health and vitality. He is the founder of Fitlife.TV where he shares “Educational, Inspirational and Entertaining” videos and articles about health, fitness, healing and longevity.

Drew says that to succeed in your diet, you need a “whydentity.” This is the combination of your identity and your “why.”

Lewis: This is 5-Minute Friday!! 

We’ve got a great guest today his name is Drew Canole he is a good buddy of mine. Drew: So, I found out that I was like 84% Northern European and if you trace that back what do Norther European people believe? 

The ancestry right?

Lewis: Right.

Drew: And you start testing those types of foods first so predominantly Irish and British you know what kind of foods they were eating? It was mainly meats and it was mainly like simple potatoes.

Lewis: Yeah.

Drew: So finding out what your ancestry is very powerful.

Lewis: Okay.

Drew: In genetic makeup and what you should be actually eating, because a lot of, I think [?] is great but there’s a lot of stuff that [?] misses out on as well.

Lewis: Sure.

Drew: A lot of people that do it more long enough their hormone start to feel tired, so there’s pros and cons to every single diet. And every diet works, what doesn’t work is not being consistent with it.

Lewis: Yeah and so many people fail at that game.

Drew: They’re not getting the results they want they give up.

Lewis: So how does someone stay consistent? What’s the key to staying consistent?

Drew: You actually talked about this in your book. It’s the why? The vision having the why powerful enough that makes you cry.

Lewis: Yeah.

Drew: It’s the emergence of your identity and your why.

Lewis: And it can’t be just to have a six pack.

Drew: That’s so superficial. So, if I maintain my health now in the longevity then I can see that, I can visualize it when he is 18 years old. You put those mental images in your mind in the future and that allows you to avoid anything in the present that can cause a distraction and lead you down the wrong path.

Lewis: Right.

Drew: So maybe it’s completely different story. Maybe you want to impact the world, you’re Lewis Howes you got this podcast and people come up to you and they know that you are having people on the show that are great. You’re inspiring these leaders. So, when you are seen out in public you can’t be that fake person that’s not congruent.

Lewis: Yes. 

Drew: So what does congruency looked like? And all levels if you are not congruent with your health how are you ever going to be congruent in business and everything else?

Lewis: That’s powerful.

Drew: And there’s a lot of people that you know are great businessman but their health is dismal, they go to the doctor and then the doctor is like ‘you got 6 months to live.’ And they would have paid anything in business.

Lewis: Of course.

Drew: In the present moment people undervalue how powerful their health is.

Lewis: So let’s say you have a powerful why and you discover that but you still are challenge with staying consistent, is you why not big enough?

Drew: I think coaching as you know because how many coaches have you had in your life?

Lewis: Dozens.

Drew: People that have impacted me on a deep level so I think that’s huge, having accountability a coach.
