When Violence Is the Answer: Self-Defense Strategies

Most of us want to believe that violence is never the answer.

I believe in love, open-mindedness, respect, and honest communication.

I also believe that it’s important to be prepared for all situations. Especially when our own lives or well-being is at risk from someone intending to do us harm.

That’s why I wanted to have my friend Tim Larkin back on the podcast (he first appeared back on Episode 94). Tim is one of the world’s leading experts on self-defense and victim’s rights.

He has trained just about every kind of person from special operations groups, high-level fighters, celebrities, and regular people like you and me who may have been victims of violent acts.

He understands violence from all sides; which makes him a master teacher of how to avoid it — but also what to do if you can’t.

"Look where nobody else is looking."

A huge part of handling violence is being mindful of where it could come from.

Tim explained to me how to train our minds to be aware, accurately assess situations, and avoid behaviors that would escalate into violence.

He also explained the research he’s done with some of the biggest experts in violence – high-profile gang members in prisons – and what he’s learned from understanding the minds of predators.

If you’re feeling unsettled about this topic, I invite you to open your mind, listen in, and feel the empowerment, peace, and freedom that can come from educating yourself about what to do before something happens to you in Episode 530.

"The one weapon you can't defeat is the human mind."
