It’s no secret that today more than ever, we live in a world of instant gratification. Whether we want our food from our favorite restaurant delivered right to our doorstep, or a ridesharing service to drive us anywhere we desire, we’ve become accustomed to having things right here the instant we want them. And it can be easy to apply that same mindset to success in life and business.
The reality though is this: things take time. A LOT of time. That said, if you’re dedicated enough to be consistent and driven enough to continue working through the ups and downs, incredible things will happen. Avoid thinking about short term gains and shift your focus to the long game whenever you can.
My guest today thinks we should be thinking two steps ahead of ourselves though and into the future generations. By doing so, we’ll set those individuals up for success in ways past generations haven’t done for those of us who are alive today. His name is Ari Wallach and I’m excited for you to hear all about his Longpath concept, what it means to have transgenerational empathy, and SO much more. Please help me welcome the one-and-only, Ari Wallach, to The School of Greatness!
Ari Wallach is a futurist and the founder and Executive Director of Longpath Labs. He is the author of the forthcoming (August 16) book by HarperCollins, Longpath: Becoming the Great Ancestors Our Future Needs. As adjunct associate professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, he lectured on innovation, AI, and the futures of public policy.
Wallach’s TED talk on the Longpath mindset has been viewed 2.6 million times and translated into 21 languages. He has written for outlets like the BBC and Wired, hosted Fast Company magazine’s “FactCo Futures with Ari Wallach,” and he has been featured in The New Times, CNBC, CNN, Vox, and more.
