When Tim Noonan decided to quit his job and travel the world for 2 years filming himself going through the most intense and brutal initiations into manhood, it was an unexpected as it sounds.
He had never done anything like this.
He’d never been in a fight, gone on crazy adventures, been a thrill-seeker, or considered himself a masochist.
But he felt a deep desire inside of himself to come to terms with what it meant to be a man.
So he decided to go all out and truly do whatever it took to find this truth.
Fortunately for the rest of the world, he had some experience in film making, so he documented the whole journey, which included visiting 12 different cultures and countries, where he experienced crazy rituals such as killing and drinking reindeer blood, getting his ears pierced with massive needles, fighting in a ring, and climbing down a snake hole, to name a few.
If this sounds outrageous and wild, it’s because it is.
But what Tim learned from these experiences is very relatable, no matter who you are.
As you know, I am fascinated by this topic, and I was hanging on every word as Tim told me stories of what he went through and what he learned.
Maybe the most interesting part of the whole conversation was towards the end when Tim shared his perspective on what it means to be a man. It was a definition that I think every man can relate to and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Episode 494.
