I want to start today’s 5-Minute Friday with a quote from Sam Silverstein: “Accountabilty is the basis of all meaningful human achievement.”
We can all make incredible goals — but if we don’t have anyone keeping us accountable, who’s to say that we’ll actually do what we said we would accomplish?
Accountabilty is a key ingredient to becoming successful. Many people DON’T achieve their dreams because they lose sight of their vision, they don’t put in the work, or they don’t have inspiration.
But accountability takes care of all of this. When you’re being held accountable, you’re constantly being reminded about your goals. You have a force that’s pushing you to do the work. And hopefully, the person or community that’s holding you accountable inspires you.
So in today’s episode, I’m going to share with you five ways you can add accountability to your life while you pursue your goals and dreams.
#1: Reach out to top performers.
Towards the beginning of my career, I reached out to several successful people on LinkedIn. I shared my personal goals with them, and they held me accountable to achieving them. These people were so instrumental in my life — without that accountability, I wouldn’t be where I am now. It may seem intimidating to reach out to top performers, but most of the time, they really want to help you! Don’t be afraid to ask for mentorship.
#2: Find an accountability partner.
Ask someone to check in with you from time to time — they hold you accountable to your goals, and you hold them accountable to theirs. The effects of accountability are strongest when you and your partner have similar goals, so you can grow together with them. Your accountability partner can be a friend, a relative, or even someone you meet online. There are websites where you can get in touch with accountability partners and create incentives for you to reach your goals!
#3: Find your tribe.
Just having ONE accountability partner can work wonders, but when you surround yourself with a community of people who inspire you and hold you accountable, the powers of accountability get even stronger. If you want to improve your fitness, one of the best things you can do is to surround yourself with fitness-minded people. If you want to grow your business, spend time with successful entrepreneurs. Joining or creating a Mastermind is a great way to build a community of like-minded people around you!
#4: Help other people.
If you’re an entrepreneur struggling to find motivation, start using your business to help other people — and accountability will kick in. Be of service, and the people you serve will hold you accountable to keep doing what you’re doing.
#5: Get a high-performance coach.
One of the strongest types of accountability comes from a COACH — someone you pay to help you along your journey to success. Not only does a coach hold you accountable to your goals and commitments — they also do everything in their power to guide you, inspire you, and steer you away from mistakes. In every area of my life, I’ve had a coach — from sports to my business. The accountability from my coaches was game-changing for me — and it can be game-changing for you, too!
Accountability was the #1 reason why I started my Greatness Coaching program. Too many people didn’t have the accountability they needed to achieve their dreams. So, I built a program that combines coaching, community, and high-performance techniques to create the ultimate system for accountability and achievement.
And there you have it — the five ways to unlock the power of accountability. I’m telling you, the power of accountability will take your life to the next level. You just need to take action on these five steps so you can unlock it!
