The secret to success is gratitude. Think about that for a second.
We all want success, right? Whether that means running a profitable business, finding the love of our lives, or manifesting our dream career, success is something that we all crave.
But it’s always just out of reach — in this life, we encounter several roadblocks that try and stop us from achieving our dreams. We have loved ones leave us, business plans fail, or global pandemics wreck our plans.
It’s easy to give up in these moments, but it’s specifically in these moments where we need to be grateful for what we have — that’s right, grateful.
Gratitude operates on a higher frequency than anger, disappointment, and any other negative emotion. While those negative emotions only attract more negativity and sadness, gratitude attracts abundance. When we acknowledge all of the good things in our lives — our families, the roofs over our heads, passions, and ambitions — we attract more of those good things into our lives!
With the right mindset and skills, you can manifest your desires in your life. Sound too good to be true? If so, I’ve got the perfect guest to share his story of how the Law of Attraction has transformed his life for the better — for over 85 years. Please welcome Bob Proctor back to The School of Greatness!
In this episode, Bob and I discuss the law of attraction and how it works for your life, happiness, and success. We also dive deep into the skills everyone needs to make more money! Lastly, Bob shared his insights on gratitude and other essential lessons he’s learned over the last 85 years.
I’m excited to share all the great things I’ve learned from Bob about attracting the good things in life and amassing a vast amount of wealth, so let’s begin!
Bob Proctor is a New York Times bestselling author, motivational speaker, success coach, and expert on the human mind. In short, he’s a master thinker. One of his bestselling books is called You Were Born Rich, which is all about finding success in your present rather than reaching for it in the future. Bob is also featured in the popular film The Secret, one of the most popular self-help films ever made.
Bob was a high school dropout who started off his career working low-paying jobs. At age 26, Bob read a book that changed his life: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Bob moved from making a couple thousand a year to hundreds of thousands to over one million a year. He’s spoken about his journey around the world and has been featured on several TV shows, such as Ellen and Larry King Live.
Bob Proctor partnered with attorney Sandy Gallagher to create the Proctor Gallagher Institute. The Institute offers elite programs and coaching courses that teach people how to use the power of their own minds to create the ideal life.
Bob says he was going nowhere before he “woke up” to how the universe works. He’s passionate because he figures that if it could work for him, it could work for anyone.
I’ve had the pleasure of having Bob on The School of Greatness a couple of times — Episode #835 and Episode #950 — where we talked about how having an abundance mindset naturally creates an abundant life and the practical things we can do to set ourselves up for success.
Today, we’re discussing the Law of Attraction — specifically how you can manifest your desires in your life! Every time I have him on the show, I learned so much about money mindset, creating a thriving business, and more — today’s episode is no different!
I had the chance to interview Rhonda Byrne on this show a few months ago. One of the topics we talked about was how much she appreciates Bob’s message, work, and contribution to the book, The Secret, which shows the power of the Law of Attraction. Since Bob is an expert on the Law of Attraction, I asked him how he defines it.
The Law of Attraction, according to Bob, is sometimes misinterpreted by people as a primary law. He believes that many have interpreted and applied it in their lives, thinking that if you just think about the things you want, you’ll attract it. Well, it’s way more than that! Bob explained why:
“The Law of Attraction is secondary. Thinking that you can attract what you think about is a bunch of nonsense. That’s not true at all. You do attract what you think about, but your thought patterns control the vibration you’re in. Vibration is a fundamental law of the universe. It decrees that everything moves, nothing rests.” – Bob Proctor
This means that if you keep on positively thinking about things, it activates your brain’s cells on a higher frequency. Bob further explained that these cells will then set up a positive vibration on your mind and body. That vibration dictates what we attract. If you keep on creating negative vibrations, you’ll keep on attracting bad stuff and vice versa!
To help keep yourself in a positive vibration, Bob advised a simple trick.
“The trick is really to keep yourself feeling good. That will lead you to good vibration[s], and ultimately, you’re going to attract good stuff. You just magnetize yourself to stuff.” – Bob Proctor
But you might think that feeling good is impossible if everything in your life is in disarray or you’re in a stressful environment. Well, Bob also has another law that he said is helpful in this scenario. It’s the Law of Polarity that decrees that everything has an opposite. It’s the concept behind “hot and cold,” “good or bad,” or just any opposing ideas you can think of.
By understanding the Law of Polarity, you’ll know that there’s always something good in everything — even in the bad things. You’ve just got to look for it!
Sadly, it’s difficult for many people to find something good in challenging situations, which stops them from achieving a positive vibration. I asked Bob why this happens, and he said that the culprit is simply how our minds are programmed all along. He believes that every one of us is programmed for bad news as manifested in the type of news we see daily.
I had a similar epiphany while looking at the massive TV screen in one area of the building where I live — four different news channels up at once, all showing bombing incidents simultaneously. I was just like, “Man, if I sat here and watched this every single day, my mind would be chaotic because I’m consuming chaos 24/7.”
The good news is that there are so many ways so we can get back our positive vibration and start feeling good again!
“Well, there are all kinds of ways to feel good. You can think of something delightful. You can also do something kind for somebody or help somebody out somewhere. You can even share a good idea. All these actions can help you start to feel good, and when you’re feeling good, you’re in a good vibration. You’re going to attract good stuff too.” – Bob Proctor
It’s hard for people to change the way they feel because they get trapped in it. It takes them days to get out of it until they go to sleep, wake up, and maybe reset the programming. I’ve been there many times when I would also hold onto negative emotions for days, weeks, even months. But I learned that it’s so much better when you can acknowledge the emotion, shift to a positive frequency, and move onto better things.
Just like Bob, I also believe that money plays a significant role in our lives. But as an expert in the human mind, Bob explained that there’s a perfect mindset when dealing with money.
“Money has no power other than what we give it. Money is a piece of paper with ink on it. We give it the value. Thus, we should control the money. We should never let money control us.” – Bob Proctor
When money controls us, we’re stuck in a scarcity mindset, which puts us in a negative mindset and low vibrational frequency. Thankfully, Bob gave us some tools to embrace an abundance mindset surrounding money so that we can help other people and experience wealth.
Bob started by sharing his insights on the importance of having the right thoughts. He said that everyone needs to believe that they can earn a million dollars. They got to develop this belief and understand that making money is actually easy.
“Everything starts in thoughts. If you want to have an order with money and your business, go back to your mind. The problem is, though, hardly anybody understands the mind. … Your brain isn’t your mind because your brain is an electronic switching station, and [the] mind is movement.” – Bob Proctor
To have a set of thoughts that can work well for you, Bob said it’s essential to have a mantra. There’s no prescribed formula or structure for this, but for Bob, this mantra works perfectly.
“I’m so happy and grateful. Now that money comes to me in increasing quantities through multiple sources continuously.” – Bob Proctor
So I ask you, what positive mantra do you have or want to have about money? Repeat it through writing and believe in it. If you keep doing this, you’re going to attract the wealth you’ve always wanted!
Bob explained that having an abundant mindset and creating wealth start with study. This can include asking for help and seeking advice from people who are the best in their fields. Or this may also be from reading! Bob gave three of the best books you can read that will help you manifest wealth:
“Get books on money. You Too Can Be Prosperous is one. Think and Grow Rich and The Master Key To Riches, both by Napoleon Hill, are excellent. You can also try The Power of Awareness. These books are beneficial on topics of attracting wealth and abundance.” – Bob Proctor
Bob also believes that no matter how old you are, you can reprogram your mind and get the correct mindset to create wealth. Bob believes that as long as a person is breathing and alive, they can learn how to earn money, so don’t count yourself out of the equation if you feel like it’s too late!
While money doesn’t determine your value, it can be an excellent way to provide value to the world around you. This resonates similarly with what Bob thinks of the relationship between providing value and making money.
“Earning of money is an exact science, and it’s governed by law. The amount of money you earn is in direct ratio to the need for what you do, your ability to do it. And the difficulty there is in replacing you. ” – Bob Proctor
Money can cause positive change, especially if you have the right mindset surrounding it!
Bob believes that there are two rewards in life — one is material and the other psychological. He suggested that we shouldn’t work for money alone but also for satisfaction.
“You work at what you love to do, and you’ll get tremendous satisfaction. … Not only that, but you also provide service [with your] money. ” – Bob Proctor
By embracing a service-oriented lifestyle and just thinking of how to do things for people, you can fight off negativity, which keeps people in a scarcity mindset.
Bob is a firm believer in creativity. He believes that you’ve got to have a free flow of energy in order to make positive change. Always be always interested in trying new things!.
By allowing the free flow of new ideas, such as entrepreneurial projects, you can always come up with plans to create more wealth in your life.
Lastly, Bob shared the secret to attaining more wealth. It’s about having multiple sources of income. You don’t need to just have one — you need to have all kinds of them! In this way, you can earn more money when you’re sleeping than you can spend when you’re awake!
“You are in a beautiful position to set up all kinds of sources of income. When you think of wealth, you might only earn $10,000 or $15,000 from one source. You might earn $200,000 or $300,000 from another, but you have a lot of them. Remember that your mind can be conditioned to be very creative in finding a variety of income.” – Bob Proctor
By working on embodying these reminders, you’ll have the correct attitude and mindset over wealth. Consider investing in stocks, having a side hustle, launching a business, or anything else that will give you multiple streams of income. Again, it’s you who has control over money — not the other way around.
It’s important to know that the path to abundance isn’t easy. It can be frustrating and overwhelming. So in a chaotic time like this, Bob advises us to find refuge in the power of gratitude.
“[American writer] Wallace D Wattles wrote a chapter on gratitude. He said [that] the entire process of mental adjustment and atonement when reaching your goals can be summed up in one word — gratitude. Gratitude hooks you up to your source of supply. It opens a channel for good to come into your life. You cannot feel bad when you’re thinking of what you’re grateful for. ” – Bob Proctor
On the other hand, many people find that cultivating a consistent attitude of gratitude necessitates a great deal of effort. We’ve been programmed to concentrate on what we don’t have rather than recognizing and appreciating what we have. In reality, though, you will attract more joy and abundance into your life all year long by making gratitude a regular everyday habit!
For some, the struggle to create wealth and manifest abundance is the lack of confidence. To resolve this, Bob told us to look at ourselves as animals with better faculties. These six faculties are perception, will, imagination, memory, reason, and intuition. When asked which among the six is the most important, Bob said that all of them are. His beautiful analogy explains how this happens:
“Here’s a tiny cell phone. What you can do with this almost blows your mind when you think of it. When I was a kid, we didn’t have a phone. We didn’t have a phone because we didn’t have any money for the first reason. But the second, not everybody could have a phone. … Today, the phone is on its own frequency. If I have your number in here, and I hit send, you and I connect; we’re on the same frequency. Now, we could only have this genius of a gadget because somebody had the will to take their imagination that went off into a great place.” – Bob Proctor
I believe in that same thing 100%. By allowing all these faculties that we have in ourselves to work together, we can achieve great things, whether in our relationship, life, or wealth!
To sum everything up, I want to take an excerpt from Bob’s experience with a party magician. The magician told Bob that when you learn how magic works, it’s not magic anymore. The magician then added, “When you learn how your mind works, that’s real magic.”
Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or can’t, you are right either way.” And author Rhonda Byrne said, “We become what we think about. Energy flows where attention goes.”
What a powerful conversation with Bob Proctor about mindset, wealth, and abundance! Knowing that we can create and reach our goal of abundance is genuinely something we regularly have to be reminded of. Everything I shared is just some points from the full episode, so make sure you don’t forget to watch it!

Before I end, let me remind you of Bob’s definition of greatness.
“I think greatness is something you work toward. It’s an enviable place that you go after because you’re bringing out the best in yourself. It’s no doubt that there’s greatness in every person. It’s the essence of who we are.” – Bob Proctor
