How to Leverage Twitter Marketing to Build Your Brand and Business

I love to use Twitter, but I hardly talk about it as I’m a big believer that LinkedIn adds more value in getting a lot of leads and sales for your business.

However, there is still value in using Twitter for getting in front of the right audience, staying relevant, and building your brand.

In the above interview I did on Fox Business with Lauren Simonetti, we talk about some of the best ways to leverage Twitter and how to use it (while even sharing more personal moments in your life and not getting in trouble for it).

Below is also a recent article I did for Entrepreneur.com on the 10 Things Entrepreneurs Should Be Tweeting About and a brief summary of the top 10 things are:

1. Personal news
2. Mistakes and lessons
3. Answers to questions
4. Links to articles
5. Pictures of unusual things you see
6. Wisdom from the book you’re reading
7. Interesting advertising
8. Fun purchases
9. Share wisdom from outside the world of business
10. Your work

What are your thoughts?  How do you use Twitter for your business?  Are you seeing a benefit to using it, or mostly just a waste of your time? Please share in the comments section below.

Also this weekend I’m doing a free course about how to launch an online business with my good friends Derek Halpern and James Wedmore on CreativeLIVE. Make sure to watch as it’s free if you attend live. Check it out here for more details.

Nice post ... I look forward to reading more and get a more active role in the negotiations here, while also picking up some knowledge.

It's clear that twitter is a powerful tool with immense potential, but sometimes it's hard to justify spending time on it when other social methods of communication are so much more effective. One reason I think every company should be on twitter is because nowadays, it's simply expected for enterprises of any level to have a presence. If not, possible customers wonder, "Is this real? Are there humans here?"

Great food for thought!

I actually think it was refreshing to deal with someone with a differing opinion because it allowed Lewis to educate!Great piece and I agree with the information shared.

Wow, that's Fox News for ya! I know Lewis does a lot of interviews with other folks in the entrepreneurial/IM space, and they would NEVER be this disrespectful! But this is a great example for those of us wanting to appear in front of traditional media. Media training (learning things like bridging, flagging, prepping for a hostile interviewer and tightening your sound bytes) are a MUST for the big leagues! Good job on remaining authentic, Lewis!

Wow, this woman was clearly hired for her "brains" -- she needs to be fired.  But GREAT JOB LEWIS handling the doubter.  Sorry you had such a tough time on air, but you emerged as the level-headed talker.

lol!!   In the top 3 worst interviewer i saw in my life!   She looked like a girl in a bar that just been flushed by her BF !!! ;-)  (or she thought that she had a chance with you but saw you kissing her best friend just before the show!!)

Jokes aside,  Great interview Lewis!   Great stuff and congrats for your awesome work!
